DSC_0501_resizeI create a positive, upbeat environment that encourages my students to feel secure and inspired in learning their instrument. This type of environment motivates my students to try harder and results in better performances.

I expect my students to have a regular practice schedule, because this is the only way they can retain and improve on the skills they have already developed. As a professional musician I believe recitals are very important for the growth of a student. My students not only benefit from recitals by gaining performance experience, but they are also inspired by their peers and achieve increased self confidence.

The music books I teach from are from Suzuki, Essential Elements, Bastien, Alfred and Dozen a Day. I supplement with popular music of the students’ choice such as music from the Harry Potter films and from recording artists such as Taylor Swift. I am also willing to teach from other books at the student’s request. I also emphasize the teaching of scales, etudes, exercises and theory.

A person gains so much from studying music. The mental, physical requirements of learning an instrument are immeasurably beneficial to a person of any age.
